Sprays Treat the Symptom. Exclusion Treats the Problem.
If you've had pest control done before and pests still find their way inside, you're not alone, and it's not your fault. Most pest control treats what's visible. Exclusion eliminates what's exploitable.
Mice can squeeze through a gap the size of a dime. Rats only need a quarter-inch. Insects exploit hairline cracks in foundations, gaps around pipe penetrations, and torn window screens you might not even notice. In this part of the country, where the heat pushes rodents and insects to seek shelter and older housing stock means more entry points, exclusion is the logical next step.
What Our Exclusion Work Looks Like: Choose from Two Types
Every exclusion job at Environmental Pest Control starts the same way: with a thorough walkthrough of your property to find exactly where pests are getting in. We take the time to understand your structure before we ever pick up a tool, so the work we do addresses the real problem, not just the obvious one.
We offer two tiers of exclusion service to match what your property actually needs.
- Light Exclusion is the right starting point for most homes. It covers patching holes in siding, soffits, and structural cavities; sealing entry points around pipes, conduit, and utility penetrations; installing door sweeps to close the gap at the base of exterior doors; repairing screens on windows, crawlspace vents, and attic louvers; and closing off HVAC, dryer, and foundation vents that pests commonly exploit.
- Heavy Exclusion is for properties with more significant structural vulnerabilities or active wildlife intrusion. This includes soffit repair (one of the most common entry points for birds, bats, and squirrels), roof repair targeting damaged or missing materials that create access, crawlspace doors that are properly fitted and sealed to close off the entire understructure, and construction-level work for structures requiring more extensive intervention.
Not sure which tier fits your situation? We're happy to walk you through it after a look at your property. No pressure, no upsell.
Experience You Can Count On
Getting exclusion right matters. A poorly sealed entry point can trap animals inside your walls, lead to moisture problems, or simply fail within a season, leaving you right back where you started. Doing it well takes more than a caulk gun and good intentions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will exclusion work if I already have an active infestation?
Exclusion is most effective when paired with treatment if an active infestation is present. Sealing entry points before addressing the animals or pests already inside can trap them within the structure, which creates a different set of problems. We'll let you know the right order of operations for your situation.
How long does exclusion work last?
Done well, exclusion can last for many years. The materials we use are selected for durability, and we seal entry points in ways that hold up to weather, settling, and wildlife pressure. That said, structures change over time, and we recommend periodic checks, particularly after significant weather events or any construction or renovation work on your property.
Is exclusion worth it for a newer home?
Yes. Newer construction isn't immune to entry points. Gaps around utility penetrations, improperly fitted vents, and settling around doors and windows are common even in newer builds.
How long does an exclusion job typically take?
It depends on the scope of work, but most light exclusion jobs are completed in a single visit. Heavy exclusion involving structural repairs like soffit work, roof repair, or crawlspace doors will naturally take longer, and we'll give you a clear time estimate before we start so you can plan accordingly.
Do I need to leave my home while you work?
For most light exclusion work, disruption is minimal. We're working on the exterior of your structure or in areas like crawlspaces and attics that don't interfere with your daily routine. Heavy exclusion involving roof or soffit work may involve some noise, and we'll give you a heads-up about anything that requires temporary access to occupied areas.
